In ASW, we believe that language is the key to understanding ourselves, our community, and it is our means of engaging with the world. Everyone in the American School of Warsaw learning community is a language learner. Language is essential to the learning of all subjects, thus all teachers are language teachers. While English is the language of instruction, we encourage the development and preservation of mother tongue and additional languages. Mother Tongue and additional languages support understanding of self and contribute to the academic and social development of learners.

To be involved in Polish program, the student must speak Polish as a primary language at home. Polish must be the student’s mother tongue or the “heritage” language.
